Matthew T. Kincaid is the founder and managing attorney of Kincaid Law KC, LLC, a Leawood-based firm concentrating on business, real estate, and trademark law. With over a decade of experience in private practice, Matthew advises a diverse clientele ranging from commercial contractors and established companies to non-profits, startups, and individuals.
Matthew has been recognized by his peers for his work and leadership, including selection to the 32nd edition of The Best Lawyers in America (2026) for his expertise in real estate law. He has also been named to the Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list for nine consecutive years (2017–2025) and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. His firm’s dedication to client service was recognized in 2025 when Kincaid Law KC earned the “Best Business Law” Silver Award from Kansas City Favorites.
Uniquely qualified at the intersection of law and commerce, Matthew holds both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Kansas. He leverages this dual background to provide legal counsel that is pragmatic, commercially informed, and aligned with his clients’ business objectives. Having grown up in a family of business owners, Matthew brings a personal understanding of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs and organizations, and he bridges legal theory with real-world business considerations.
In addition to his legal practice, Matthew has substantial academic experience. He served as a Lecturer at the University of Kansas School of Business for 10 years and as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law. He is among the relatively few practicing attorneys in the Kansas City metropolitan area to have held faculty positions at two Division I universities before the age of 30.
Matthew’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond the courtroom: he has experience in real estate investing, licensed real estate transactions, book publishing, and even motorcycle restoration. He brings a global perspective informed by international academic and business experience, including co-leading a University of Kansas study abroad program in Panama, engaging in business activities in Ecuador, and studying in Costa Rica and France. He achieved fluency in Spanish in his 30s.
Matthew has published extensively on legal and business-related topics. His work has appeared in, or been cited by, Thinking Bigger Business Media, USLAW NETWORK Magazine, Kansas City Business Journal, BarLetter (the official publication of the Johnson County Bar Association), Kansas Law Free Press, and the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal.
